The Meaning of SOL: Sun, Soul, & Sanctuary

When we (Julie & Ben) first moved to the farm in October 2024, we knew this land wanted to be rebirthed with a new name and purpose. We spent the long, dark winter months cocooned by the fire, dreaming into this new co-creation that was moving through us. After sitting with the trees and listening to the creek, we began to feel the land open up to us. The name came through one evening, so simple and so clear. It felt big to us, knowing the immense honor it was to step forward and steward these 20 acres.
Our name carries many layers of meaning, each one reflecting the heart of who we are, while also speaking to the energetic architecture of this sacred land.
SOL: Our Sun and Source of Life

SOL first honors our central sun star — Sol — the radiant heart of our solar system, whose light sustains all life. We recognize the Sun not only as a celestial body, but as a living being of divine intelligence — the immaculate light that animates all organic creation. When we turn our gaze toward this light, we remember that when we walk in alignment, all shadows naturally fall behind us.
SOL: A Reflection of the Soul
But SOL also speaks to the Soul — the inner light & divine spark within every being. We view our community as a constellation of like-hearted souls, each shining with unique gifts, yet all necessary parts of a greater whole. This divinely orchestrated web of Souls shares a common vision: to live heaven on earth now. Together, we nurture the soil beneath feet and in turn, receive deep Soul nourishment in true reciprocity with Gaia.
Our Triskelion Logo: A Symbol of Harmony and Union

At the heart of SOL Family Farm’s identity is the Triskelion, an ancient celtic symbol of balance and sacred union. The three interwoven spirals in our logo represent the cyclical dance of Sun, Moon, and Earth — the celestial forces that guide the rhythms of life, death, & rebirth.
They also mirror the sacred trinity within the family unit — mother, father, and child — reflecting the harmony that arises when masculine, feminine, and creation move together in balance.
On a deeper level, the spirals illustrate the weaving together of Heaven and Earth, as a reminder that our own physical bodies hold sacred meeting point between spirit and matter/upper world and lower world.
In essence, the Triskelion expresses the living movement of light — a continuous unfolding of divine energy that connects all living things.
SOL: Sanctuary of Light
Lastly, SOL stands for Sanctuary of Light — a name that reflects our dream to create a safe space to unfurl & unwind. We hope to create a place of rest & refuge in a world of distortion; and a place of peace, healing, and collective (un)learning. SOL Family Farm is a living sanctuary where people can reconnect to nature, spirit, and their own innate magic through the exploration of holistic healing, sovereign living, ceremony, and creative arts.
Rooted in Earth, Rising in Spirit
Our name holds the essence of our mission:
to live in harmonic union and reciprocity with Gaia Earth, to honor and protect the sacred family unit, to restore inner authority through ancient wisdom and healing arts, and to celebrate life through joyful expression, play, and spiritual connection.
At its heart, SOL Family Farm is a place where the body & spirit, masculine & feminine, solar & lunar, and Heaven & Earth come into union — a living reminder that when we nurture the land and one another, the light within us all shines a little brighter.
In Growing Community,
Julie + Ben
